Czech-French actress Chantal Poullain will receive the highest French state decoration, the Legion of Honour, on Tuesday 12 September in Prague. France will thus honour her long-standing enrichment of Czech and French culture and her constant contribution to the spread of French culture.

The award of the Order will also recognise Poullain’s work in the humanitarian field. The ceremony will take place at the French Embassy in Prague. Markéta Misíková from the French Institute in Prague informed the Czech Press Agency today.

The ceremony will be attended by family, friends and colleagues – Vladimír Polívka, Anna and Kamila Polívka, Štěpánka Křesťanová, Magalena Dietlová, directors Antonín Procházka, Ladislav Smoček, George Agathinikiadis and others. The insignia of the Knight of the Legion of Honour will be presented by the French Ambassador Alexis Dutertre.

Poullain was born in 1956 in Marseille. She graduated from the Theatre Academy in Geneva, and also trained as a ballet dancer. After meeting actor Boleslav Polívka, she moved to what was then Czechoslovakia in 1982. In 1989, their son Vladimír was born, after studying at the DAMU, also an actor.
