Agnieszka Holland’s new film about the life, myth and phenomenon of Franz Kafka.
Agnieszka Holland is once again joining forces with a Czech production team to create a variegated film collage of scenes and stories from the writer’s life and books. The film is produced by Šárka Cimbalová, the script was written by Marek Epstein, Tomasz Naumiuk will be the director of photography and the future writer will be played by ten-year-old Štěpán Klán.
The film will not only look at Franz Kafka from the angle of the world-famous Czech writer of German origin and one of the most important representatives of 20th century literature. In the same way that his work combines elements of realism and fantasy, the film will be composed of various fragments of his life and imagination.
It is necessary to create a dazzling mosaic with an overlap into the present and an overall view of the dramatic world of Kafka’s imagination. We’re building the floor plan of a mischievous fictional docudrama in which nothing is impossible. We are building the ground plan of a mischievous fictional docudrama in which nothing is impossible the director says.
